On 20th January, 2019, Sri Aurobindo Ashram-Delhi Branch, marked the 89th birth anniversary of Sri Anil Jauhar, former chairman of the Ashram. The occasion coincided with Bhumi-pooja to initiate the construction of the Prasad-block that will serve as an extension of the kitchen. The new block is being built to serve the Ashram’s growing culinary needs. A great number of participants gathered to mark the auspicious occasion. The Pooja was initiated by excavating the ground where the foundation of the project was laid. An altar dedicated to Sri Aurobindo and The Mother was placed at a vantage position to face the rising Sun. A Yagna kund was set up for the ceremony. Tara Jauhar (fondly known as Tara didi) presided over the ceremony. The chanting of Om accompanied by the sound of the tanpura filled the ambience with sanctity. Rangamma didi performed the Purnahuti along with aspirants who collectively chanted mantras. As the kund took shape, offerings were dropped into the fire. The guidance and protection of the Divine was invoked for the upcoming project. Following the Yagna, the Bhumi mantra was recited as participants laid the foundation stone for the project. The ambience was imbued with silence and gratitude. The event lasted for 40 minutes, post which prasad was served to the devotees and the participants. The occasion stood as a reminder to continue working towards realising The Mother’s vision and purpose in time to come.
