The founder of Delhi Branch

Shri Surendra Nath Jauhar, 'Faquir', popularly known as 'Chachaji', was a patriot and karmayogi who founded the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Delhi Branch and The Mother’s International School under the direct supervision of the Mother, was born on 13th August 1903. He hailed from Vahalee village, Jhelum district, Punjab, now in Pakistan, and had his early education at Dayanand Anglo-Vedic High School. Chachaji placed his services at the disposal of the Indian National Congress, and along with his wife, actively participated in the struggle for Independence.
