Be The Green Hero: Warrior of Waste Management

'Be The Green Hero: Warrior of Waste Management' workshop organized by Sri Aurobindo Ashram-Delhi Branch Society Trust and sponsored by Parle Biscuits Pvt. Ltd. concluded successfully in Nainital. The five-day workshop was held from 5 to 9 March and 25 students of Bhartiya Shaheed Sainik Vidyalaya (BSSV) participated in it along with their teacher Divya Dhaila. In the closing ceremony, the chief guest, Municipal Chairperson Dr. Saraswati Khetwal motivated everyone. Along with him, Principal of Indian Martyr Soldier School Bishan Singh Mehta and Ward Member of Nagar Palika Parishad Manoj Jagati also attended as special guests. On this occasion, students presented Kumaoni songs. Street plays were played and their experiences of the workshop were shared. They also took an oath to keep the city clean and contribute towards environmental sustainability. During the workshop, the students installed dustbins at various locations in Nainital and conducted awareness campaigns on the importance of cleanliness.

During the workshop, the students collected around 75 kg of waste from the Ayarpatta area, which gave them practical knowledge about waste management, waste segregation, recycling and its impact on the environment. They understood the importance of preserving the ecology of Nainital and pledged to take it forward. The guests appreciated the active participation of the students and called this initiative an important step for the city.
