Enshrinement of Relics day in Nainital

Van Niwas is an idyllic hill top retreat at 7,400 ft in a picturesque sylvan setting amid the lush verdure of the Holy Himalaya, far above the pollution and din of the town life. One can immerse in the tranquility of our Ashram, a sanctuary of peace featuring a sacred Relics Hall, serene Meditation Hall, and a well-stocked Library with a Reading Room for spiritual exploration and self-discovery. The very surroundings induce calm and peace and it is an ideal place for silent contemplation.

The sacred occasion of Sri Aurobindo’s Relics Enshrinement Day was celebrated with great devotion, enthusiasm, and community participation at Van Niwas, Nainital, on 29th May. The day-long programme brought together devotees, students, teachers, artists, and well-wishers to commemorate this significant spiritual event.

The celebrations commenced in the morning with Yoga sessions, promoting physical well-being and inner harmony in the spirit of Sri Aurobindo’s teachings. This was followed by Shramdaan, where participants joyfully contributed their time and effort in service, reflecting the ideals of collective work and selfless dedication.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Guest of Honour Dr. Saraswati Khetwal, who congratulated and encouraged the students for their outstanding performances and presented prizes to the winning teams. Her presence added warmth and inspiration to the occasion.

A Special Collective Meditation was conducted to mark the significance of Sri Aurobindo’s Relics Enshrinement Day. This was followed by a soulful reading from Savitri by Tara Didi, whose heartfelt recitation created an atmosphere of deep peace and contemplation. The session enabled participants to connect inwardly with the spiritual message of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, making it one of the most profound and memorable moments of the celebration.

The afternoon programme featured a vibrant cultural presentation by the Odisha Group, showcasing the rich artistic heritage and traditions of Odisha through music, dance, and folk performances. The colourful presentation was greatly appreciated by the audience.

In the evening, the celebrations continued with a devotional Bhajan Sandhya, filling the atmosphere with devotion and spiritual fervour. The audience was then treated to captivating performances of flute, tabla, and vocal music by renowned artists Sh.Siddhant Negi, Sh.Gaurav Bisht, SushriGaytri, Sh. Himanshu Joshi and Sh.Lokesh Joshi whose soulful renditions enthralled everyone present.

The programme was attended by distinguished guests from Nainital, devotees, members of the local community, and visitors from different places, making the celebration a truly memorable and joyous occasion. The day concluded with a sense of gratitude, harmony, and renewed inspiration, reflecting the ideals and vision of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother.
