IE & Mathematics Workshop

Sri Aurobindo Ashram — Delhi Branch conducted a comprehensive Integral Education & Mathematics workshop from December 21st to 28th, 2019 for 14+ rural schools and 40+ teachers under the Social Initiatives program of the Ashram.

The objective of the workshop was to equip rural schools from different states on Experiential Mathematics with various learning materials and tools.

The workshop was designed to cover all key aspects of Integral Education for school teachers as laid down by The Mother & Sri Aurobindo, which will not just benefit the school teachers but the students as well for holistic development.

The workshop spanned over 7 days covering key aspects of Integral education, strong focus on mathematics activities through learning materials, experience of meditation & yoga and relevance of physical fitness and games.

Through various innovation tools and methods Mathematics was taught to the teachers during the course of the workshop.

The use of various training material like Ganit Racks, Maths Mat, Number Ball, Ganit Mala, Games, Blocks, Decimal Kit, Fraction Kit and cards etc is shared to make the subject more interesting and fun for the children. Each schools was provided Teaching Learning Materials at the end of the workshop worth Rs 30,000 by Sri Aurobindo Ashram — Delhi Branch, for utilising in their respective schools to improve conceptual understanding of Mathematics for children.

LIBRARY & STORY TELLING WORKSHOP — JAN 1ST to 8th, 2020

As a part of social initiatives of Sri Aurobindo Ashram — Delhi branch, an 8 day workshop on «Library and Story telling» was organised for 40+ school teachers from different parts of the country in rural areas. The key objective was to impart a deeper understanding of Integral Education and its benefits on our overall development as laid down by The Mother & Sri Aurobindo.

The workshop covered key aspects of Integral education, story telling, setting up Libraries for schools, relevance of book reading to develop creative skills etc.

The teachers learnt new strategies and acquired important tools for making storytelling interesting and fun. They were guided into making desi TLMs to promote reading competency in village schools. They were encouraged to use games, activities, songs and rhymes for helping students better understand the world around them through storybooks and other modes of reading. Each school was provided Library books by the Ashram to enhance their Libraries in respective locations.
